Motorcycle Mechanics assemble, maintain, repair and restore motorcycles and other multi-wheeled lightweight all-terrain vehicles.

- They diagnose problems and failures with the electrical system, engine, power train, suspension or frame by inspecting the vehicle.
- They perform routine maintenance tasks like cleaning and adjusting the carburetor, adjusting the clutch, brakes and drive chain and replacing old parts.
- They rebuild or replace parts.

How do I become a Motorcycle Mechanic?

1. Find a company willing to take you as an apprentice
2. Register with AAIT (Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training)
3. Apprentice for 4 years, which includes 1360 hours of on the job training and 8 weeks of technical training at school in the first two years, and 1420 hours of on the job training and 6 weeks of technical training in the third and fourth year.
4. Take the interprovincial Red Seal exam to become a registered Motorcycle Mechanic.
5. Now you can work almost anywhere in Canada!
